We are thrilled to have award-winning New Zealand designer Liz Mitchell MNZM on board to design our first signature coats. Liz is one of New Zealand’s leading fashion designers, specialising in bespoke tailoring and championing New Zealand wool. Working out of her Auckland-based atelier, Liz and her team are passionate about handmade craftsmanship – creating clothes of timeless elegance, quality and sustainability.
The Coat
Our goal is simple – we make a beautiful coat, a work of art, a fashion statement to cherish and hold on to, crafted from a boutique woven strong woollen blend. The coat is not only a piece of high fashion but also a work of art.

There are two coats - the longer style Lake Wānaka Coat for women, and a shorter Folded Landscape Jacket, based on a 'workers pea jacket' style, which can be worn by both men and women. The addition of a belt makes it great for a more casual look. The design for both was inspired by Marilyn Webb's 'Folded in the Hills' and reflects the raw beauty of Central Otago.
Both Coats are lined with repurposed silk, and made from McClean & Co's Clutha Collection, a celebration of vintage weaves reimagined - pinstripes and herringbones in a palette that echoes the land. Each coat will be individually made by Liz Mitchell MNZM, ensuring that no two are alike; the weaves, textures and detailing will always be slightly different. More than a statement piece, each Coat is a legacy - one that honours craftsmanship, conscious luxury, and the future of slow fashion.

Marilyn Webb’s “Folded in the Hills” was an important source of inspiration for Liz Mitchell’s ‘Lake Wānaka’ coat collection. And McLean & Co’s Clutha Collection of woven vintage wools provided the textile inspiration.
